Rain washes away Bushy Park Girls’ good start

The ICC Champions Trophy clash between Australia vs Bangladesh wasn’t the only big match to fall foul of the weather yesterday (05/06/2017) evening. The U12 Division 3 MCA West league match between Hampton Hill and Bushy Park Girls was also brought to a premature close after the rain swept in.

2017_06_05_vs_Hampton_Hill_rain_1_33%Bushy Park Girls won the toss and chose to bat. Eve Abbott and Phoebe Head opened the innings for BPG and both survived the early onslaught from the impressive Hampton Hill firebrands. The girls knew that Hampton Hill often make early inroads with their accurate line and length. By the time Abbott left the stage Bushy Park Girls had established a solid base, scoring 29 for 2. With Abigail Avery and captain Ella Waldron pushing the run rate up BPG were nicely poised on 46 runs after 12 overs. Unfortunately the bad weather arrived and the match was abandoned.

2017_06_05_vs_Hampton_Hill_rain_3_33%A special mention is due to Abigail Avery who scored an untroubled 21 Not Out last night, she has now passed 200 runs in 2017. Her current total is 216 and there is still every possibility that she will break the 300 in due course. Full BPG Stats HERE

Thank you to Hampton Hill CC for their impeccable hospitality, Dave and Alban for umpiring, and Ernest and Gavin for scoring. Thank you to everyone who turned up, in defiance of the weather/forecast, especially the girls who didn’t get a chance to bat – Paige Goodwin, Jess Low, Imogen Higgins, Kerrie-Ann D’Cunha, Alice Harvey, Isabel Jenner and Emma Nunn.
